Excellent photo. Taiko drummers are hard to shoot. They move so fast and many of them are facing vertically mounted drum heads and away from your camera. You nailed this one.

Hi Strangetastes - thanks! They were fast and loud - i have a few more shots but this was by far my favorite shot out of all of them!

How nice to have found you. Must have missed you in the portal. I lived just outside Hobart for three years, at Tinderbox.
Super photo today and I’m looking forward to keeping up with your blog.

For a Japanese, it’s strange to see grown women taking part, but even here in Nelson there’s an attempt to start a group, which I’d imagine would be for both men and women… Sooo…. times a’changing. I understand in Korea it’s a women’s thing - or at least women have been playing just as long.
No matter, I hear it’s a great workout!

Jilly - Thanks. Glad you liked! I only just joined in the last week so you didn’t miss me, i wasn’t there! Tinderbox is a lovely part of the world so expect to see some pics from there at one time or another! In case you missed the news, there was a big fire in the Myer in the city a few weeks back so there will be some more pics appearing on here soon!
Meg - i wondered whether it would have been an all male thing. Apparently here we have an active Taiko drumming community and after seeing the performance on the weekend i am considering doing the adult education course to learn how to play myself. And yes it is a very athletic performance - there was one way that they played by virtually doing sit ups.
