This evening the Greenpeace vessel Esperanza docked in Hobart Fresh from protesting the Japanese whaling in the Southern Ocean. More photos available at The Esperanza comes to town

  4. Hope they succeed. Sadly a dead whale washed up on one of our beaches this week, a Bryde’s Whale. Disposing of the nasty smelling body trapped on jagged rocks in a holiday resort gave the Municipality a bit of a headache!

  6. Kate – Really – i had heard that it wasn’t really getting much coverage outside of Australia and New Zealand. Good to hear the rest of the world is finding out.

    Sam – always sad when that happens. We had a recent stranding and rescue of all whales involved that me and my camera missed :-(
