Dry Hills

The front of The Mercury (Hobart’s newspaper) on Thursday carried pictures of an eerie dust storm at Jericho located to the north of Hobart as part of the extreme weather that we had and so Saturday morning i took a drive up to see what the area was like to produce such a dust storm. What i saw was shocking. i new we were having a drought but i had no idea how bad it was. Hills like this one stripped bare, fields with little more than stubble, farm dams and rivers empty or a stagnant series of ponds.
I have a lot more posted to another blog so please feel free to travel The Road to Jericho

I have a nice feel in this photo. The image and the word “Dry Hills” remind me a our neighbor “Marlborough” where is the most famous win industry area in NZ. We even have a label called “Dry Hills”.

Hopefully your “Dry Hills” are not as dry as ours, not a lot growing on ours!

not sure how such a tragic drought where farmers are killing their livestock because they have no feed for them can give a ‘nice feel’ really.
