Port Arthur

This is from Port Arthur and is one of Australia’s Premier attractions and an interesting place to visit unlike when it was a Penitentiary where it was a dark place to visit.
Sadly it has a more recent dark history when on this day in 1996, Martin Bryant launched a killing spree which cost 35 lives and left a further 37 wounded in what became known as the Port Arthur massacre. How many more were affected is anyone’s guess.
If you would like to see more of Port Arthur then please visit Port Arthur Photo, a photoblog i have recently started of the area

Great picture you have for us Greg, it conveys a sense of foreboding, today
I’m offering a Big Thank You for CDP support.
What a dark history. I like the photo though. I’ve toured an old prison in Yuma, AZ and it was very disturbing. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/az/yumaterritorialprison.html
Hi Curly, it person it is many things including beautiful and foreboding
Tanya – they do have ghost tours too but i am thinking there is a few too many ghosts there these days for my tastes. Oh and cameras aren’t allowed so how would i cope!
A lovely photo for such a dark history! Beautiful. (Mary, Detroit Daily)
Thanks Mary – glad you enjoyed seeing a little bit of history
wow, what a pretty location for a prison.
I have yet to visit Australia. It sounds beautiful.
Very clever, true too, I think!
