Unusual Structure

(c)hobartdaily.com - An unusual structure in the Hobart Rivulet, South Hobart

I am not sure exactly the purpose of this structure in the Hobart Rivulet in South Hobart. I thought perhaps it might be something to do with flood control but if that is the case and they dropped something in to make a temporary dam then it would just flood the lower levels of the Nursing home to the left of the picture. Its a mystery!

  6. It’s there to catch branches and other large pieces of flotsam that may wash down the rivulet in times of high flow.
