I took the chance to head to the Tasman Peninsula today (south east of Hobart) to take a bush walk and of course take some photos. I started at Fortescue bay and followed the track around to Canoe Bay where the Wreck of the William Pitt sits with its top sticking out of the water. The William Pitt was a retired steamship that was scuttled in Canoe bay to form a breakwater for fishing boats that moored there. In her heyday she was used in Hobart.

And finally a bonus shot showing the whole wreck that is visible from the shore

  2. It looks more like a hazard!

  4. Kris – i agree. Just sort of lurking in the water off the point and not exactly well marked either. I am not sure where the tide was when i was there so it could be even more hidden sometimes!
