Just Some Flowers …
Not much to show, just some flowers at the side of the road to mark the place where two people died yesterday on the South Arm Highway. It was part of a horror day on Tasmanian Roads where 9 people were killed in accidents on the State’s roads. To put it in perspective, the road toll for the whole of last year was I believe 48, so nine in a day is shocking and it seems unnecessary. People weren’t driving to the conditions, people were driving dangerously and some people were just unlucky, being killed by people not doing one of the first two.
So i am asking all my readers, take care on the roads and drive to the conditions. Some courtesy doesn’t hurt either. But don’t end up with just some flowers to mark where you died unnecessarily.

Wonder if placing the flowers by the side of the road for accident victims is common in all countries. In the US, we have that tradition. The saddest one I saw recently was a young teen who was walking on a nearby railroad track this spring. He was listening to his iPod and didn’t hear the train coming………..

So sad. And so unnecessary. Why the need for speed? We have the same problem here. And many of the same type of “memorials.”
