Myer Stocktake Sale

In Australia on boxing days is one of the biggest sales in the country. The department store Myer has their sale which has built up the reputation for bargins and you see those crowds of running people when the doors open. Hobart’s version is a lot more sedate with only a small crowd of people.
Empty

Something strange to see at this time of year, an empty carpark in the city!
Wheel Barrow

Walking past this store being redeveloped one night i was struck how the place looked deserted save for a lone wheel barrow.
Hobart Synagogue

This is the Hobart Synagogue and is remarkable for a number of reasons. For a start it is the oldest Synagogue in Australia having been built in 1845 and for the fact that it is a rare example of Egyptian Revival style of synagogue architecture.
Amazingly despite the fact that it is on a busy Hobart Street, I wasn’t even aware that it was there until today and i felt a little sorry for the location slotted in between other buildings with the Tasmania Police building overshadowing it and then there is the strip club and gay bar across the road.
A flood of Richmond Supporters

A flood of Richmond Supporters in the Elizabeth Street Mall Hobart waiting for an autograph. As well as the chance for autographs there was also face painting and other stuff for the children
