When i saw this shed on a backroad somewhere in the Huon Valley it struck me that had it known which way to fall, it would have fallen down long ago as it looks like different bits of the shed want to fall in different directions.

The whole state, especially the South has been receiving unseasonably large rainfall andmany of the rivers and streams have been carrying a lot of extra water. As far as i know, this field wasn’t underwater because the Huon River flooded it but rather i think it is a drainage thing.

This is not the first time, nor probably the last time i will photograph this bulldozer. It stands in a sheep paddock near Tinderbox and always draws my eye when i stop to look at the view from the road here. i have no idrea how long it has been there but it never seems to be any more decayed and it will probably outlast us all despite the sea air which i am sure helps the rust no end!

Today is Australia day which commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia in 1788 and is a holiday in all states and territories of Australia. Around the country like here at Kingston Beach there were celebrations to mark the occassion.

The day is controversal with Indigenous Australians who see the date as marking the destruction of their culture and there are annual protests refering to the day as “Invasion Day” and have been campaigning to have the date moved to the day the Government officially apologised for past actions.

Kingston Beach south of Hobart. It looks like a pleasant day but this shot is all the more remarkable as at the most 15 minutes earlier today a fierce front had rolled through with rain and strong wind yet a quarter of an hour later calm and pleasant.
