Today’s shot is of the Lady Franklin Museum. Opened in October 1843 as a museum of fine art, the site had been chosen by Lady Jane Franklin in 1841 and called ‘Ancanthe’ from the Greek meaning ‘vale of flowers’. Ownership was transferred to the Hobart City Council in 1938 and since 1949 the building has been leased to the Art Society of Tasmania
