(c)hobartdaily.com - A speaker at the hobart rally against internet filtering

Yesterday i made the time to go along to the Hobart Protest against the Federal Government’s internet filtering. Its not that i don’t believe that some stuff shouldn’t be accessible, its just that the proposal as it is will not work and it will slow the internet when particularly in my state we already have a substandard internet service as it is. I would prefer to see the money put into police action to get the producers at the source, not with some half arsed filter that won’t work.

Of course the other reason is that i don’t like to be in the same league as countries such as China and North Korea.

(c)hobartdaily.com - Diners next to Salamanca Market

One of the pleasant things to do on a saturday in hobart is to visit Salamanca Market. there are numerous restuarants where you can sit outside and next to the market and watch the world go by like in the picture above. I am partial myself to sitting outside one of the two pubs and knocking back a guinness on a nice day.
